Conceptual design of competition model with vertical take-off and landing
Monková, Paulína ; Grim, Robert (oponent) ; Hájek, Tomáš (vedoucí práce)
The bachelor thesis deals with the conceptual design of the competitive model of the aircraft for the international design student competition held in 2022. The introduction of the work focuses on the analysis of the rules of competition. The research section focuses on possible aircraft configurations and existing commercially available models of the same category as the competition rules. The practical part of the work processes the selection and closer characteristics of the individual parts of the aircraft, the mass analysis process and the determination of the aerodynamic centre of the model. The output of the work is a conceptual design and system model.
Drones (UAVs) in the area of emergency services (Integrated Rescue System)
Bobek, Jan ; Baumgartnerová, Alena (oponent) ; Rujbrová, Šárka (vedoucí práce)
Drones are being used more widely in the field of emergency services, thanks to their better availability and price. In the police field, drones are used for surveillance of various event or monitoring suspicious areas. Police drones are also used for reconstruction of a traffic accident. In the firefighting field, drones are used mainly for monitoring fires and gathering information about the fire for the pilot, but several drones are also designed for suppressing the fires. In emergency medicine, drones are used to transport equipment and blood samples in places where it is not possible to do so by means of grounds transportation or if the transportation is complicated. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to provide a list of drones used in the integrated services and to describe technologies associated with the drones.
Návrh pohonné soustavy soutěžního modelu s kolmým startem a přistáním
Urban Air Mobility VTOL personal vehicle design
Polčák, Marek ; Zikmund, Pavel (oponent) ; Popela, Robert (vedoucí práce)
The thesis deals with a conceptual design of a rotorcraft in the configuration of a multicopter, which has the design features of a motorcycle. Initial input parameters and requirements for conceptual design were based on statistical research of similar existing concepts. Afterwards, suitable components of propulsion system were chosen to fit the proposed design and flight performance requirements. UAM vehicle was designed as a coaxial quadcopter. Multicopter was designed as a composite construction combining aluminium space frame and composite ducts, which cover the propellers. Centre of gravity was calculated to ensure that its position lies exactly between front and rear rotors, which has a significant impact on stability. Structural strength of important components was then checked using FEM. Besides the structural analysis of a space frame, great deal of emphasis has been placed on structural analysis of composite ducts. This analysis helped to define inner structure and ensure that it withstands given load. Since the multicopter may benefit from ground effect benefits, its impact was evaluated by CFD analysis in three different distances from the ground. Positive influence of ground effect was evaluated based on extended battery endurance at hover for different payloads. Forward flight performance of designed UAM VTOL vehicle was carried out together with the estimation of drag coefficient of the multicopter with a pilot using CFD for different pitch angles. Obtained drag coefficient were then used for the calculation of multicopter forward flight speed dependency on pitch angle and battery endurance. In the end, two proposals of flight controller were presented together with possible control system and sensors, which could be used.
Závěr kapitoly vždy obsahuje shrnutí a přehled technických údajů.
Performance possibilities of VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Bartlová, Tereza ; Matějů, Jiří (oponent) ; Juračka, Jaroslav (vedoucí práce)
This bachelor’s thesis describes and evaluates performance of vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for a cargo transportation use case. The first part of the thesis describes a real-word problem with cargo transportation and how the problem could be solved using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The mission which an unmanned aerial vehicle would have to undertake is also described and performance requirements are specified based on this mission. The second part of the thesis focuses on analyses which evaluate the performance requirements and estimates the power required for an UAV which could fulfill the use case mission. The first analysis is based on performance data of both existing unmanned and manned aircraft. The second analysis focuses on finding a relationship between power and total propeller area. Next, a relationship between maximum take-off weight and total area of propellers is considered. And finally, different configurations types of vertical take-off and landing aircraft, their required power, and their total propeller area are compared. In the third part of the thesis, a tandem tilt-wing configuration, which is chosen as concept design for this use case, is evaluated. Firstly, the number of propellers and their diameter is chosen for this configuration and the power required is estimated. Secondly, the initial configuration design of the hybrid propulsion system is selected. And next a mass analysis of the initial aircraft design is performed and evaluated for feasibility. And finally taking into consideration the results of all of these analyses, a rough concept design drawing capable of fulfilling the use case mission is presented.
